Tommy awoke at 3:30 AM in Provo to get to the SLC airport by 6 AM. His Delta flight # 1857 was to depart at 8:32 AM from SLC to arrive in Seattle at 9:35 AM. He had a calling card, but all the public pay phones had lines with all the departing Missionaries getting a short chance to call home.
We want to thank the anonymous Seattle traveler (area code 208) who loaned Tommy a cell phone for 38 and a half minutes.
Tommy is still very excited to have a missionary name tag and got to briefly talk with Mom, Dad, and siblings Matthew, Claire and Charlotte. He loved his short 12 day stay in the MTC. He said "I will be teaching someone tonight."
Then he boarded his plane to Washington...
We are anxious to learn what his first assigned city is and who will be his first companion? Especially since the newly created Washington Federal Way mission is taking about 40 of the Washington Tacoma missionaries.
But there is no news yet on the mission blog thebeautifulwa-tac.blogspot.com and yes there is a Washington Tacoma Mission Moms facebook group with 62 members with a dozen or so pictures of some of the 11 new elders and 17 new sisters who arrived this morning, but we can't make out Tommy (aka Elder Webber) even in the backgrounds.
I guess we'll have to wait until his Monday Prep-Day to learn what city he is serving in???
Here is a photo taken today of Elder Young (probably a descendant of Brigham Young) and possibly Tommy's future companion with Tommy lurking in the background with luggage some where...
We are praying for you buddy on your first night in the field.
D&C 4 Now behold, a marvelous work is about to come forth among the children of men.
Matthew Chapter 28 Verse 18-20 (Last words Jesus Christ said according to St. Matthew)
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 ¶Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
